I value quiet, open, luxurious spaces and time to step away from the daily pace of life. I've worked to create a life that is 60% soft life and 40% rich life because there are so many ways to be happy. The most recurring parts of that happiness? My kids, partner and home.
The other aspects are; knowing my worth, seeking opportunities to work with people I believe in and saying no.
Invite me for a pot of tea, an afternoon of quiet communion, reading our books in the afternoon sun with a blanket or a night at a great meal, made with friends that don't expect you to wear heels and makeup.
I take time to create spaces that allow my children and I to show up as ourselves. It's very easy to be simultaneously observed and forgotten as a Black person in this world.
I also recognise that because I experience one marginalisation, it doesn't mean there are no prejudices of my own to address. Learning and unlearning is a forever journey.
