I grew up in inner-city Seattle with a mime dad (you read that right) & doctor mom, studied educational inequality at Harvard, started my career in the Obama White House, was briefly a contestant on American Idol, and instead of going to business school, landed in the irresistible world of startups where I’ve been for 13 years… I co-founded RYOT (a media co and documentary studio acquired by HuffPost/AOL in 2016), then helped build Community.com (SMS platform for artists, elected officials, brands, etc). I’ve invested in and/or advised two dozen early stage companies.
