Dual impulses of intellectual inquiry and emotional intensity, navigating the complexities of human experience with a restless curiosity
I'm a freelance brand designer and creative director. Originally from Los Angeles, I currently live in Mexico City. My interests lay at the intersection of art, activism, culture, community and design. With a background in sociology and philosophy, my work aims to amplify underrepresented voices and bolster positive social change using design as a medium. To accomplish this goal, I partner with social advocacy groups and organizations within the non-profit and political sphere.
HOW DO YOU EMBRACE DIVERSITY AND/OR UNCONVENTIONALITY?
I stay informed, continuously learn and reflect on current social issues and evolving conversations around diversity. I engage in continuous self-reflection to understand biases and learn from experiences I experience and/or witness. Within my work, I act as an ally to marginalized communities, to amplify their voices. Within overall situations, I strive to create environments that welcome and respect people from all walks of life, encouraging open dialogue and active listening to understand diverse perspectives.
HOW DO YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF CREATIVELY?
I write every morning to clear the mind and invite creativity. I am a member of a local ceramic studio in Mexico City where I create everyday, light-hearted objects. I am a designer by trade so I work with clients to create brand identities and establish systems to best express their narrative, personal story and business goals. I cook everyday, creating new recipes and am constantly searching the markets in Mexico City for new ingredients and talking to local vendors about ways to use them.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY? WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU ARE AN EXPERT IN AND COULD GIVE ADVICE TO THE COMMUNITY ON?
I am excited about the prospect of contributing to the community by connecting with members about ways to build the community, leveraging my background in design and social sciences to better support and collaborate with fellow members.
