I live to amplify the light of others. With over 30 years of experience in the visual arts in leadership roles that span the commercial to the institutional, I delight in bringing creative and intelligent voices to the table to realize once-unthinkable dreams. Currently, I'm developing a seasonal creative wandering workshop program for curious minds. Previous roles include Director of Visual Arts at Sun Valley Center for the Arts where I engaged audiences through a multidisciplinary approach to critical issues such as biodiversity, women’s rights and land preservation. This drew the attention of the Portland Art Museum where I was honored to be the first Curator of Northwest Art, re-igniting the museum’s focus on contemporary art from the region. More recently I served as Director of the Bolinas Museum for nearly 10 years where my experience contributed to an increasingly vibrant museum.
HOW DO YOU EMBRACE DIVERSITY AND/OR UNCONVENTIONALITY?
I've always found comfort in playing at the edges and seeking wisdom in the margins in both my professional and personal life.
HOW DO YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF CREATIVELY?
Aside from my work as a curator and arts professional, I find joy in the kitchen fusing my favorite flavors from my travels (Sri Lankan Tacos anyone?) and getting lost in the dirt designing gardens with foraged plants. If time finds me on a wide stretch of beach, I can't help but draw a stream of circles in the sand at the water's edge. Someday I'll dust off the vintage Singer I have been storing for far too long and teach myself to sew textile collages for fun, friends, and family.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY? WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU ARE AN EXPERT IN AND COULD GIVE ADVICE TO THE COMMUNITY ON?
The time is now for women to come together and share their wisdom to create a brighter future. I enjoy bringing people of all walks of life together to spark positive growth and wish to be a supportive and safe haven for those seeking kinship and kindness.
