I'm Sophie Simone Guadalupe Cortina Roussillon, born in Caracas to a French mother and Mexican father, reflecting both cultures. Growing up in multicultural Mexico City, I embraced athletics, excelling in tennis. By 14, I was Mexico's top-ranked player and represented my country globally, even competing at renowned tennis events. A college shoulder injury shifted my career to sports journalism, allowing me to connect with people worldwide.
Returning to Mexico, I explored design, leading to Sophie Simone Designs (SSD). Inspired by nature, SSD is now an internationally recognized brand. I collaborate with talented artisans, and our boutique in Mexico City doubles as an art gallery and community space.
Notable achievements include the 2022 Medaille de Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite from President Macron. SSD supports various NGOs by donating part of our profits. I'm also a certified Vinyasa yoga instructor, driven by endless curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
My journey encompasses sports, journalism, design, and community building, reflecting my passion for growth and connection.
I think I’ve always been unconventional! Like a salmon swimming upstream. From being a pro tennis player and having a life of training and focusing on goals while my friends are out partying to helping people in Tepito with meals durinf the pandemic while people were stating home.
