Everything I have learned, and continue to learn, that has true impact and depth comes from community. The system isn’t for most of us, and in deconstructing, rethinking, and building a society that actually cares for the people, diverse perspectives and backgrounds are essential to create understanding — on the “smallest” level to the biggest — so we can begin to make something that benefits us, on our terms. And to create that understanding, we first have to create space. In all realms, my priority is to create space for people to be seen and heard, and to not just be seen and heard, but to truly trust that they can and will be. Trust = community. Community = trust.
