Five weeks ago, I quit my very enjoyable, stable, well-paid job in London to explain to my senior management team that I was moving to Mexico to study Spanish, immerse myself in a new culture and gain different perspectives in a more operational career role (which I am still seeking out). This inspired change in my organization, to develop stronger career progression initiatives, and to establish a sabbatical policy for others like me. I also inspired change amongst my friends, several of whom have kickstarted processes to move abroad and seek adventures of their own.
