Social impact - I work at the intersection of media, culture, and social justice.

United States

I grew up with a historian so this question has no beginning or end. I’m a middle child but eldest daughter, Nigerian, immigrant so naturally I love to straddle intersections and pull people together. I stay curious and always wanted to grow up and be a “people watcher”, which I’ve gotten to do in my academic and professional lives, and what’s better than a good sidewalk chat or ear hustled conversation. I’m always compelled to act because of a why, and most often that why is how can I work with others to create more justice, joy, and abundance. I currently like to garden (but I’m learning y’all), try not to obsess over climate change maps, and usually have a thought experiment about the zombie apocalypse and a food item that I’m into (right now it’s pomelos). If I run into you, please prepare for my excitement, because a random encounter is one of my favorite things!

I work hard at listening, learning and unlearning, so it’s my hope and practice that I embrace diversity and unconventionality warmly, curiously, and openly. I continue to think a goal is to keep expanding the circles of difference. And above all, we need new and to keep discovering new—or reintegrating previously oppressed or silenced—ways of being, connecting, and living.
