Alicia Vera is a Mexican-American photographer born and (mostly) raised in Miami, FL. She eventually moved to Mexico City to freelance full time and rediscover her family's roots. She now bounces between the two taking on documentary, editorial and commercial work. Alicia is a member of Women Photograph, Diversify Photo, IATSE Local 600 and The Luupe. When not working, she loves to spend time with her chosen family, her dog Salsa, cook, drink natural wine, box and go swimming in the nearest river.
I came out as queer in the early 2000's to my Mexican parents. I even wrote an Op-ed at school about queerness which basically outed me to my entire high school. They were the hardest years of my life but I like to believe that I helped others in being who they are without fear.
