I am Alejandra, architect, daughter, sister, wife and most importantly, mother of Martin and Federica. I am Colombian, I lived the past 13 years in NYC and moved to Mexico City a few days ago. It was hard to leave NY where I lived most of my adult life, built my career, and had an amazing network of friends and colleagues, but my husband and I decided we wanted our kids to grow up in Latin America, so now we are here. I have a design studio I started with another amazing woman and dear friend who I met at work. After a while we realized we were feeling stuck at our jobs and uninspired. We longed to feel fulfilled and inspired by our day to day, but also wanted to eventually start a family, which seemed so complicated in our employment situation. Living in NY for 13 years was the most enriching experience I could have ever hoped for thanks to it being a place where people feel free to express themselves and be who they are without being apologetic about it. I met, worked, became friends, and fell in love with people from different cultures and corners of the planet who've helped shaped who I am.
